What an SRT file looks like

An SRT file is plain text. Each subtitle has a number, a start and end time separated by an arrow, the text, and a blank line. Because it is plain text, every major editor and video platform can read it.

1
00:00:01,000 --> 00:00:03,200
أنا غادي نحضر meeting ديالنا

2
00:00:03,300 --> 00:00:05,000
وبعدها نمشي للrestaurant

SRT or VTT?

Both hold the same information. SRT is the most widely supported format and works in nearly every editor. VTT (WebVTT) is the web standard, used by HTML5 video players and accepted by YouTube. ArabCap exports both from one upload, so you can keep whichever your tools prefer.

Import the file into your editor

  • Premiere Pro: use the free ArabCap extension to put captions straight on the timeline, or import the SRT as a caption file.
  • DaVinci Resolve: import the SRT onto a subtitle track from the media pool.
  • Final Cut Pro: bring the SRT in through a caption import.
  • CapCut: import the file from the captions panel.

If Arabic punctuation looks wrong in your editor

Arabic is written right to left. If a full stop or question mark appears on the wrong side of a line, the problem is usually how the editor lays out right-to-left text, not the SRT itself. Check the right-to-left or Arabic text settings in your editor, and preview the file in a web player to confirm the file is fine.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I generate an Arabic SRT file with ArabCap?

Upload your video, choose the output style, then download the SRT or VTT file when processing finishes.

Can the SRT use Arabizi instead of Arabic script?

Yes. Choose Arabizi as the output for the video.

Will the file work outside the editors you list?

SRT and VTT are open formats, so most players and video platforms can read them.

Can I use ArabCap with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and CapCut?

Yes. For Premiere Pro there is a free ArabCap extension that puts captions straight on your timeline, on Mac and Windows. For DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, CapCut and other editors, ArabCap exports SRT and VTT files.

Does ArabCap support Arabizi?

Yes. ArabCap supports Arabizi — Arabic written in Latin characters mixed with numbers — as part of its dialect recognition system.
