A transcript is not the same as a subtitle file

A subtitle file is cut into short, timed lines that fit on screen. A transcript is the text of what was said, meant to be read, searched, quoted or edited. ArabCap produces both from the same upload, so you do not have to transcribe twice.

Convert an Arabic video to text

  1. Upload the video or audio file: MP4, MOV or MP3, up to 2 minutes.
  2. Choose the output script: Arabic script or Arabizi.
  3. ArabCap converts the speech to text, keeping dialect words and French or English loanwords.
  4. Read through the text and correct any name or word.
  5. Choose Export transcript and download TXT, or JSON for your own tools.

What you can export

  • TXT: a plain-text transcript for documents, notes and articles.
  • JSON: structured output for tools, search and your own workflows.
  • SRT and VTT: timed subtitle files when you also need captions.

Where Arabic dialect transcription is used

  • Podcasts and interviews, turned into show notes and articles.
  • Lectures and webinars, so students can search and review them.
  • Journalism, to quote speakers accurately from recorded footage.
  • Content teams who repurpose video into posts and captions.

Clean up the text before you publish

Dialect speech contains names, borrowed words and slang that no tool gets perfectly. The Pro and Max plans include a built-in Arabic keyboard so you can correct a word in place and export the final version.
